Eastern Area Office supports 61 Sea Cadets Units covering a wide area of the East of England and Malta.
Our furthest Unit south is in St Albans, Lowestoft in the east with our furthest north in Scarborough. Our area then extends over to the M1 corridor where we take in Units in Dunstable all the way up to Keighley.
If you go to the districts section you will find a complete list of those Units we work with which also includes Malta.
Each Unit is linked to several others to form Districts which are managed by District Officers, who are senior volunteers within the Sea Cadet Corps.
The size of a District varies from 5 Units linked together all the way through to our largest which has 9 Units.
In addition to Districts we have a range of Area Staff Officers who are volunteers who specialise in one specific area of Sea Cadet Training.
All 60 UK Based Eastern Area Sea Cadet Units are Independent Charities that are affiliated to the Sea Cadet Corps.
Each Unit is managed and run by a team of dedicated volunteers who work with young people by providing exciting activities based around a nautical theme.
The Unit includes Instructional Volunteers (staff) who work with the Cadets by providing a range of activities and Unit Management Volunteers (UMC) are tasked with providing the resources to enable those activities to take place.
Ultimately it is the UMC that is responsible for managing the Charity although all volunteers actively play their part in providing the resources for Cadets, whether this be boats, transport or buildings.
