London Area's Senior Volunteer Team
This page is a "Who's Who" of London Area's Senior Volunteer Team. These are just some of the key figures in London Area who manage, oversee and develop almost all aspects of life as a Sea Cadet in London Area. They are all unpaid volunteers, who manage to do all of this as well as having full-time commitments outside of the Sea Cadets!
Senior Staff Officer - Cdr (SCC) Noel Wheatley MBE RNR
The Senior Staff Officer (SSO) is appointed by the Area Officer (AO) subject to endorsement by Captain Sea Cadets (CSC). Whilst in post the SSO will be the senior Sea Cadet Adult Volunteer in the Area.
Area Chairman - Mr Andrew Davenall
The Area Chairman is elected by ballot, for an initial period of three years, by the Unit Chairmen. They may subsequently be re-elected for a further three years with the support of Area Officer and Area Business Management Director. The Area Chairman's main purpose is to represent the chairmen of the Units in each Area, so their views and concerns are properly represented to the Area Management Team, the SCC Management hierarchy and the NSCAC.
Area Training Officer - Lt Cdr (SCC) Barry Sickelmore RNR
The London Area Training Officer is responsible to the Area Officer for the training of cadets and adults within London Area. The ATO ensures that courses are run correctly and to nationally agreed standards throughout the area.
Area Recreation Officer - Lt Cdr (SCC) Antony Loveridge RNR
The role of ARO is to encourage, support, develop and deliver safely all Area competitions so as to provide (where applicable) an Area Team to National events.
Lima Company Commander - Major (SCC) Paul Carroll RMR
The Coy Cdr is considered to be the senior Royal Marine Cadet (RMC) officer in the Area and is the primary point of contact for all Staff Officers, Commanding Officers (COs) and Detachment Commanders (Det Cdrs) on matters relating to RMCs within the Coy (area).
Executive Warrant Officer - WO1 (SCC) James Bryan RNR
The Executive Warrant Officer (EWO) is appointed by the Area Officer (AO) and, whilst in post will be considered the senior volunteer Senior Rate (SR)/Non Commissioned Officer (NCO) in the Area. The EWO's primary role is to be the Senior Staff Officer’s (SSO) principal advisor and assistant on all matters concerning SR/NCO within the area.
