The Protection of Children (Scotland) Act 2003 and the Charity Trustees and Investments (Scotland) Act 2005 requires all adults working with children (paid and unpaid) or in positions of influence and truste (i.e. charity trustees) to obtain Disclosure clearances through Disclsoure Scotland.
Northern Area Office (on behalf of MSSCHQ) takes overall responsibility for ensuring that:
- All Instructors (uniformed and non uniformed) and Unit Assistants are cleared to Enhanced disclosure level.
- All members of the UMC (charity trustees) are cleared to Enhanced disclosure level.
In Scotland, District Officers are registered counter signatories and they are required by law to check the identification of a person before they countersign any disclosure form which they hold.
