The Marine Society & Sea Cadets is proud of its staff and the thousands of adult volunteers throughout the UK who collectively make the Sea Cadet Corps the successful organisation it is.
In recognition of the tremendous work our staff and volunteers do, the MSSC provides, through the Marine Society, opportunities to continue their education, acquire new skills, and turn those skills into recognised and therefore valuable qualifications.
Open University Foundation Degree
We've teamed up with the Open University to offer Sea Cadet Corps staff and volunteers a foundation degree entitled Working With Young People for which sponsorship is available from the MSSC.
This is a terrific opportunity for our people - and with the generous offer that all tuition fees will be covered. Find out more at http://www.ms-sc.org/scc
Defence Learning Portal
We're also pleased to announce that access to the Defence Learning Portal (DLP) is now available to the Sea Cadet Corps.
The DLP is a web-based e-Learning facility for the defence community provided through a partnership between BT and the MoD. It's the biggest facility of its kind in Europe.
There are currently 600+ learning and development opportunities available through the DLP covering a range of skills. They include navigation, computer literacy, data protection, health and safety, sea survival, training delivery, first aid, equality and diversity through to leadership and management. And the number and range of courses is growing all the time.
The SCC has a dedicated domain within the DLP. It contains information, courses, and a discussion forum facility set aside for the Corps' use.

CVQO
You can also find out about the range of adult awards available through CVQO. And there is a wide range of courses from GCSEs and A Levels through personal development, to health and fitness.
