Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults (POCVA) Northern Ireland

All new adult who join the Sea Cadets in Northern Ireland and have unsupervised access to Cadets are processed thought the POCVA Team at the Child Care Policy Directorate. There is no requirement to complete a disclosure form, by signing the SCC P1 (Northern Ireland) Form the adult gives their consent for the organisation to contact the directorate to ascertain if they have any convictions that would preclude them from working with children.

By virtue of the fact that the UMC does not have access to cadets there is no requirement to vet the members of Unit Management Committee unless they become Unit Assistants.
