BTEC Level 1

Welcome to the T&A page for BTEC Level 1. If you require any information not available on these pages, please contact your ASO Vocational Qualifications.

Introduction

The BTEC Level 1 (SCQF Level 4) Certificate in Teamwork, Personal Skills and Citizenship provides recognition of early youth group and cadetting skills that are often transferable into the world of work and covers areas such as working as part of a team, personal development and citizenship skills.

Who is this qualification for?

All cadets who reach the Ordinary Cadet or Royal Marines Cadet Lance Corporal are eligible to receive the Certificate – it rewards the work you have done to reach this milestone and acts as a pathway to further Cadet Vocational College-led qualifications.

Cadets who have not yet reached the rank of Ordinary Cadet can achieve this award, if all the relevant modules have been completed. Cadets should be awarded the SC Eligible for BTEC L1 module under the Vocational Qualifications syllabus on Westminster. This module is automatically awarded when a Sea Cadet has the required modules to be eligible for the BTEC Level 1.

It is fully mapped to the Cadet Training Programme, with no workbook component, and is partially funded by the Marine Society & Sea Cadets, the cost is £98 which is subsidised by the Sea Cadets to £15 with bursaries available taking the cost down to £4.50.

What do cadets need to do to get the qualification?

Each cadet must complete the appropriate Cadet Training Programme (CTP) modules to be shown on Westminster or RMC training in order to achieve Ordinary Cadet or Cadet Lance Corporal or be a Cadet First Class with the SC Eligible for BTEC L1 module.

How are cadets enrolled for the qualification?

The cadet must complete and sign a VQF201 form, and return it to:

VQ Desk Officer, SCTC Excellent, HMS EXCELLENT, Portsmouth, Hants, PO2 8ER

You can request the most up-to-date version of the form by entering your details on a Cadet Vocational College VQF201 Request. It should be noted that scanned or photocopied forms are not accepted.

Once the VQF201 has been received, Cadet Vocational College will enrol the cadet and issue a welcome letter with a Cadet Vocational College reference number. This must be entered on the registration details section of the cadet's Westminster record to transfer their achievement data to Cadet Vocational College.

Certificates are issued approximately 12 weeks after this process has been completed.

Who can I contact if I need help?
