Promotion Prerequisite Updates 2024

As a result of the Refining our Offer announcements, the promotion prerequisites have been updated to reflect the Sea Cadet Experience and also ensure it is clear when CFAVs are able to promote cadets or register them for promotion boards.

The table below shows the minimum requirements that a cadet must complete in order to be eligible for promotion to their next rank or rate. The CTP Programme Guide has been updated to reflect these changes.

Westminster and the Cadet Portal have now been updated to reflect these changes

Refining Our Offer - Future Updates

Changes are underway to how we will carry out Cadet Promotion boards. This will see Leading Cadet and Cadet Petty Officer boards moving to a one-day format to be held at district level. Work to achieve these changes is ongoing ahead of the roll out from July 2024. 

Details of the new board format will be issued in late May following the outcome of a working group reporting to Captain Sea Cadets. Royal Marines Cadets Promotion boards will be reviewed ahead of the 2025/26 financial year, with no changes to the format of the RMC boards occurring before April 2025.
