Safeguarding self-declaration

As a youth organisation we are committed to ensuring that we uphold robust safeguarding processes for all volunteers, regularly reviewing our processes to ensure that we continue to fulfil this. One part of this is the completion of a Safeguarding Self-declaration.

This safeguarding self-declaration is ordinarily completed by volunteers as part of the Volunteer Joining Form (P1). The form includes a number of questions that we are required to ask as part of the safeguarding "safer recruitment" process.

We have recently identified that for a variety of reasons, a number of volunteers unfortunately do not have this information on file. As a result of this we are contacting the volunteers affected requesting that a new self-declaration is submitted.

If we require you to complete a new self-declaration we will send you an email requesting this. If you do not receive this email no action is required as we do not require this information from you at this time.

The self-declaration form will be shared with you via a Microsoft Form. Once you completed your responses will be automatically and securely sent to the Volunteer Support Team for review.

Honesty and integrity are two of our values and we therefore expect volunteers to respond to the self-declaration questions accurately and fully.

How long will the Safeguarding self-declaration take to complete?
This is a short form which should only take a matter of minutes to complete.
Where and how will you store my responses?
Your responses will be saved securely on your Westminster file. These will only be viewable by a small number of MSSC employees within the Volunteer Support and Safeguarding team.
I responded 'yes' to one of the questions within the declaration. What happens next?
If you have responded 'yes' to one of the questions within the Safeguarding self-declaration we may be in touch to ask for some further information.
