Are you 16 or older and thinking about becoming an Adult Volunteer?

The Cadet to Volunteer (C2V) Programme is your chance to start that journey now — and get ahead before you age out at 18!

This programme is all about helping you transition from being a cadet to becoming an Adult Volunteer. You’ll get to build your skills, gain experience, and complete key parts of the volunteer onboarding process early — so when you turn 18, you’re ready to make the most of being a Volunteer.

Overview of the Cadet to Volunteer programme

The Cadet to Volunteer (C2V) Programme comprises four core modules, each supported by in-unit activities and two action learning sets—structured peer coaching sessions designed to encourage reflection and collaborative problem-solving.

The core modules are:

  • Roles and Responsibilities of a Volunteer
  • Safeguarding
  • Challenging Situations
  • Building Your Toolkit

In addition to Two Action Learning Sets.

Each module’s learning is confirmed through the completion of at least one in-unit supportive activity, selected from the Cadet Sergeant (Cdt Sgt) or Petty Officer Cadet (POC) syllabus. These activities provide practical opportunities to apply your learning in a real-world unit setting.

During the action learning sets, you will bring your own experiences and challenges to the group, where guided discussion and peer questioning will help you explore solutions and identify your next steps.

The C2V programme is designed to be run over six months, with time between core modules to complete the supportive activity. The core modules are delivered either virtual-live or face-to-face during a parade night.

How do Cadets sign up?

To sign up for the C2V programme, Cadets should keep an eye on their portal for upcoming Programme Sessions. Cadets should also speak to their Unit Training Officer (UTO) prior to expressing an interest on their Sea Cadet Portal.
